Scott Stein

He teaches Writing Fiction, Writing Humor and Comedy, Creative Writing, and Freshman Writing, and runs Drexel's Week of Writing each spring. The book Drexel University Off the Record (the unauthorized guide for prospective students) lists "Scott Stein's Humor & Comedy Writing class" as one of the "Ten Best Things About Drexel."
Stein's second novel, Mean Martin Manning (ENC Press, 2007), was called "a gem of a book" by the Philadelphia City Paper, which also said, "If Franz Kafka were funny, if, while down at his local pub in Prague, he had fired off one witty, sarcastic rejoinder after another about the absurdity of the world, then he would have written a novel like Scott Stein's Mean Martin Manning." In 2007, he was interviewed about the novel by The Bibliothecary blog and Reason magazine.
Kathleen Volk Miller
Professor Volk Miller is the Managing Editor of the Painted Bride Quarterly, a 35-year old nationally recognized independent literary magazine. She has fiction, personal essays, and articles in numerous publications, including Red Booth Review, The Smart Set and the Philadelphia Inquirer. She has also published pedagogy papers, won a teaching award while at Rutgers University, and speaks at various conferences on marketing, publishing online, working with student interns, and teaching with technology. She takes great pride in being born the same day as Houdini, Bob Marley and Princess Haalah bint Al Hashim, and her arm wrestling skills.
Publicity Director
Amy Weaver
Amy Weaver was born in a small town in New Hampshire with deep green trees and rope swings into black water rivers and tall deep sand pits for jumping. She was born the same day (not year) as Jim Morrison, and turned one on the day John Lennon was shot. She was voted funniest girl in 6th grade, the same year her teacher, Mr. Greene, first encouraged her love of writing, and also the very same year he called her both "cruel" and "mean" (blamed for a petty theft she honestly knew nothing about). It was her genius idea in 8th grade to write "Help we've been kidnapped" on a piece of paper and hang it in the bus' rear window on field trip to the Salem witch museums--- an already scary place made all the more scary by the numerous state troopers and police officers waiting for her when she arrived. She has since learned her lesson. In her free time, she is now the Communications Specialist for Drexel's College of Arts and Sciences and the Publicity Director for the Drexel Publishing Group.

Co-Ops
Jacob Harte
Ian Micir
Ian Micir is the editorial assistant for the Drexel Publishing Group and also works on the editorial staff of Maya and Painted Bride Quarterly. Over the past year, Ian has discovered his love for performance of both written pieces and original songs. In a few semesters, he will receive his B.A. in English from Drexel. Ian is a cheese steak and fine scotch connoisseur, and on most nights can be found enjoying both while writing pieces for his comedy blog, Time to Feed the Goldfish, which is not recommended for children under 2, the blind, or anyone who can't read.
Staff
Jack Belli
Jack Belli has recently received a B.A in English at Drexel University. He isn't around much anymore because he spends most of his time writing and dreaming of one day going to Japan. Were it not for a couple articles published online in ASK, his presence at the university would be almost completely forgotten. But on some clear nights, when the crescent-moon wraps around flush stars, he can be seen for a moment crossing over the large expanse of the Walnut Street bridge before disappearing into chaotic glow of the city.
Lea Burns
Lea Burns is a junior English major at Drexel. Along with her
participation with the Drexel Publishing Group, she is a Writing
Intensive Tutor and a member of the Creative Writing Forum, a program
designed for students around the world to submit creative writing for
feedback. Recently, Lea worked with the Free Library and the Drexel
Writing Program to tell the story of Sudanese refugees living in
Philadelphia. Her article was published in City Paper in support of One
Book, One Philadelphia's 2008 pick What is the What. In the future, Lea
plans to attend graduate school and then go on to save the world.
Ali Cahill
Ali Cahill is a junior majoring in English. She is the Managing Editor of ASK and the Editor-in-Chief of Maya. She likes to read a lot of poetry and fill the holes in her soul with the Department of English and Philosophy (obviously). And she can do a Rubik's cube in a little over a minute, and, yes, has even competed in tournaments.
Andy Segedin
Andy Segedin was born on the Jersey side of the Hudson River in April of 1987. During his free time Andy, enjoys watching Top Chef, looking at himself in the mirror, and making scrapbooks of newspaper columns featuring the word "condescend." Andy is a an aspiring writer and environmentalist, so he hopes that one day people will read and enjoy his work, recycle it into extra-soft toilet paper, and, like White Castle hamburgers, appear inside toilet bowls across the country.
Jessica Taboada
Jessica Taboada is a senior English and Marketing major. She is an extremely active member of the Drexel Community. She is the president and founder of the National Hispanic Business Association, a Writing Intensive Tutor, and a student mentor. Jessica is also an avid reader and writer. One of her short stories was recently published in the online literary journal, Percontra. She plans to go to graduate school and pursue a career in publishing, and she will always continue to write --even if no one ever sees it.
